"Cybercrime is an increasing challenge in Yemeni society, requiring the combined efforts of educational and community institutions to tackle it.
The seminar organized by Ar-Rasheed Smart University on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, concluded with several recommendations that take into account the nature of the university and its role in serving Yemeni society, as follows:
• Launch awareness and educational programs within the university: Thanks to the efforts of the university in providing electronic infrastructure, ensuring data encryption, and securing its databases.
• Design additional training courses and workshops for university students: About the basics of cybersecurity and ways to prevent cybercrime.
• Develop awareness programs targeting the local community: In collaboration with media institutions and relevant authorities.
• Establish a cybersecurity club: That studies and analyzes cybercrimes and offers innovative solutions to prevent them.
• Provide technical and technological consultations: For Yemeni universities and institutions interested in cybersecurity
• Enhance cybersecurity-related curricula: By adding educational and informative material to university curricula.
• Call on universities to develop educational courses: To include topics like dealing with artificial intelligence and modern communication technology
• Launch an electronic reporting platform: Where an electronic platform supervised by the university can be created to receive reports related to cybercrimes on and off-campus, ensuring the confidentiality of reporters.
• Develop human resources in cybersecurity: By organizing specialized training courses for students and faculty members through the cybersecurity department and collaborating with local and international experts.
• Support postgraduate students: In conducting applied research in the field of combating cybercrime.
• Partner with Yemeni universities and relevant institutions: Coordinate with other universities to create a national network for research collaboration in combating cybercrime
• Work with relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communications: To develop joint policies and programs.
• Launch ongoing community campaigns: Organize awareness campaigns in cooperation with media institutions targeting school and university students and the community about the dangers of cybercrime.
• Provide free workshops to the local community: To spread online security culture.
• Encourage scientific research and studies: In postgraduate studies, theses, and in-depth studies on cybersecurity challenges and ways to address them.
• Provide financial and moral support to outstanding researchers: From within and outside the university
Finally, Ar-Rasheed Smart University calls for the issuance of a cybercrime law after incorporating all recent changes in artificial intelligence, micro-industries, and big data, as this has a positive effect in increasing the reliability of business transactions and civil transactions.
