Accounting Department at faculty of Finance and Business celebrated International Accounting Day and honour the university's working accountants
Under the patronage of Prof. Abdulatif Haidar, the rector of AR-Rasheed Smart University, the Accounting Department at faculty of Finance and Business celebrated International Accounting Day on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in the university's great hall.
The event, attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Association of Chartered Accountants, Director of Studies and Research at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Acting Director of the Yemeni Association of Chartered Accountants Institute, and a group of teaching and administrative staff and students from the Accounting Department and the faculty, was opened by the Dean of the faculty of Finance and Business, Prof. Saif Salam Al-Hakimi.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Al-Hakimi emphasized the importance of celebrating International Accounting Day annually, as it highlights the pivotal role accounting plays in building sustainable economies and developing societies.
Dean of Student Affairs, congratulated all Yemeni accountants and accounting students at AR-Rasheed University on International Accounting Day, wishing them success in their academic and professional lives.
He highlighted the significance of the accounting profession in various economic fields, as it is responsible for achieving the objectives of companies and institutions through meticulous financial monitoring.
Head of the Accounting Department discussed the long history of accounting, which began with the advent of trade. He pointed out that the significance of International Accounting Day on November 10th is due to the discovery of double-entry bookkeeping by the British scholar Luca Pacioli in 1494, which was a major milestone in accounting and has adapted to all accounting developments and information technology up to this moment.
He also emphasized that faculty of Finance and Business at AR-Rasheed Smart University, through its Accounting Department,
is committed to equipping graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to practice the accounting profession. The department offers distinguished educational programs and ensures the use of computer applications, information technology, and practical accounting software.
Mr. Hamed Al-Shamiri, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Association of Chartered Accountants, delivered a presentation
on the crucial role of accountants in building a strong and sustainable economy, describing accountants as the compass that guides us towards the future.
The event included two presentations with the honoring of the participating associations and companies, as well as the university's working accountants.
