Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ar-Rasheed Smart University is hosting an exhibition showcasing pharmacy students' projects and pharmaceutical companies, in celebration of World Pharmacists Day
On a day that renews faith in the mission of medicine and pharmaceuticals—where knowledge meets creativity and human compassion— Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy at Ar-Rasheed Smart University celebrated World Pharmacists Day on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The event was held under the theme: “Think Health… Think Pharmacist.”
The celebration featured an exhibition of pharmacy students’ projects and pharmaceutical companies, organized under the patronage of the rector of the University Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Haidar. The event was attended by Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Faisal Al-Zubairi, Vice Chairman Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Wazir, Board Member Mr. Osama Al-Ja’dabi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Ikram Fadhl Al-Iryani, Head of the Pharmacy Department Dr. Salah Wajih Al-Din, along with several faculty deans, faculty members, students, and distinguished guests.
The exhibition was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the display booths showcasing student research projects, educational posters and brochures, short films, and pharmaceutical company stands presenting their products and services. The event embodied the synergy between science and practice, and reinforced the pharmacist’s vital role in serving the community.
During his tour, Mr. Faisal Al-Zubairi expressed pride in the innovative projects and ideas presented by pharmacy students, emphasizing that the pharmacy profession is a cornerstone of the healthcare system. He noted that the roles of doctors and nurses are incomplete without the pharmacist, who forms an integral link in the patient care chain. Al-Zubairi added that celebrating World Pharmacists Day is a tribute to a noble profession dedicated to safeguarding patient health and ensuring optimal treatment, extending his gratitude to the faculty administration and students for their outstanding efforts.
Vice Chairman Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Wazir praised the scientific and creative student projects showcased at the exhibition, affirming that the event reflects the university’s vision of empowering students to transform academic knowledge into practical achievements. He added that shaping the pharmacist’s professional identity begins in the classroom through hands-on activities like those organized by the Pharmacy Department, helping prepare graduates to meet societal needs and advance the healthcare sector.
Dean Prof. Dr. Ikram Fadhl Al-Iryani expressed pride in the students and their innovative contributions, affirming the faculty’s commitment to developing students’ scientific and practical skills to align with labor market demands. She explained that organizing such events reflects the university’s approach to integrating academic and applied learning, offering students a platform to showcase their creativity and apply theoretical knowledge in community-serving projects.
Dr. Salah Wajih Al-Din, Head of Pharmacy Department, stressed that pharmacy is not limited to dispensing medications, as commonly perceived, but encompasses broader responsibilities including ensuring safe drug use, determining appropriate dosages, and preventing interactions and side effects. He noted that the department is committed to preparing students with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to scientific research, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and quality control—enhancing the pharmacist’s indispensable role in the medical system.
Pharmacy students unanimously agreed that participating in the exhibition opened new horizons for understanding their critical roles, affirming that pharmacists are essential partners in diagnosis, treatment, research, and pharmaceutical production. Participating companies also expressed their satisfaction with the collaboration, viewing the event as a dynamic platform that bridges education with the job market, and provides students with opportunities to demonstrate their capabilities and align with professional field requirements.
The exhibition concluded with a vibrant reflection of the fusion between science and creativity, reaffirming Ar-Rasheed Smart University’s mission to shape the future. It underscored that the pharmacy profession remains a fundamental pillar in safeguarding human health and enhancing quality of life.
