Ar-Rasheed Smart University Launches the Virtual Pharmacy: Interactive Learning That Shapes Tomorrow’s Leaders

In a landmark step reaffirming its commitment to advancing educational environments, Ar-Rasheed Smart University inaugurated its Virtual Pharmacy on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The launch, held by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences – Department of Pharmacy, coincided with the celebration of World Pharmacists Day. This cutting-edge educational tool harnesses technology to enhance academic training, offering a realistic simulation of operational pharmacies and serving as a practical lab that bridges theoretical knowledge with professional practice.

The Virtual Pharmacy aims to empower pharmacy students to perform key pharmacist duties in a simulated environment—including dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions, and guiding patients on safe drug use. It also fosters communication skills, builds trust, and reinforces awareness of the importance of rational drug use.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Faisal Al-Zubairi, Vice Chairman Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Wazir, Board Member Mr. Osama Al-Ja’dabi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Ikram Fadhl Al-Iryani, and Head of the Pharmacy Department Dr. Salah Wajih Al-Din, alongside several faculty deans, faculty members, and students.

During the inauguration, Mr. Faisal Al-Zubairi emphasized that launching the Virtual Pharmacy marks a qualitative leap in the educational process. He described it as a modern environment that encourages students to engage in critical thinking and scientific research in the fields of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy technologies. He praised the initiative for transforming theoretical knowledge into interactive practical experience and extended his gratitude to the college administration and students who contributed pharmaceutical samples to support the training process.

Prof. Dr. Ikram Fadhl Al-Iryani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, stated that the Virtual Pharmacy represents a strategic move toward preparing a generation of pharmacists equipped to integrate seamlessly into hospitals, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies after graduation. She affirmed that this training environment immerses students in a comprehensive practical reality, enhancing their readiness for the job market and enabling them to serve society with high competence.

The launch of the Virtual Pharmacy embodies Ar-Rasheed Smart University’s vision of shaping the future by integrating academic learning with hands-on application—preparing pharmacy students to become pioneers in research and innovation, and guardians of public health.
