Department of Pharmacy at Ar-Rasheed Smart University Conducts a Scientific Lecture on “Introduction to Evidence-Based Medicine”

As part of its commitment to cultivating a conscious academic generation capable of applying the latest scientific methodologies in medical practice, Department of Pharmacy at Ar-Rasheed Smart University, in collaboration with the University Student Forum, organized a scientific lecture titled “Introduction to Evidence-Based Medicine,” delivered by Dr. Sayyida Al-Jumai, PhD in Clinical Pharmacy. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ikram Fadhl Al-Iryani, alongside a distinguished group of faculty members and pharmacy students.

The lecture focused on introducing students to the concept of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) and its importance in supporting medical decision-making based on reliable scientific information. It covered key topics such as searching medical databases, identifying credible sources of information, evaluating the validity of scientific studies and research, and linking study findings to daily clinical practice. The session also highlighted the role of clinical pharmacists in promoting optimal, evidence-based treatment.

Dr. Salah Wajih Al-Din, Head of the Pharmacy Department, emphasized the significance of organizing such lectures, which enhance students’ awareness and understanding of global trends in medical and pharmaceutical education. He stated: “Evidence-Based Medicine is no longer optional—it is essential for safe and effective professional practice. These lectures equip our students with the scientific tools needed for critical evaluation of research and for making precise pharmaceutical and medical decisions that benefit patient health and society.”

Participants unanimously agreed that the lecture was a valuable addition to their educational journey. It elevated their scientific awareness and reinforced their belief that the pharmacist’s role extends beyond dispensing medication to being an active partner in research, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.

Prof. Dr. Ikram Fadhl Al-Iryani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, stated that the Virtual Pharmacy represents a strategic move toward preparing a generation of pharmacists equipped to integrate seamlessly into hospitals, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies after graduation. She affirmed that this training environment immerses students in a comprehensive practical reality, enhancing their readiness for the job market and enabling them to serve society with high competence.

The launch of the Virtual Pharmacy embodies Ar-Rasheed Smart University’s vision of shaping the future by integrating academic learning with hands-on application—preparing pharmacy students to become pioneers in research and innovation, and guardians of public health.
