Under the esteemed patronage of the rector of Ar-Rasheed Smart University, Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Haidar, the Student Activities Administration, in collaboration with the University Students’ Forum, organized the Faculty Table Tennis League Championship on Saturday, February 8, 2025. This event is part of the Third Ar-Rasheed Olympiad Cup for Sports, held in the university’s sports hall.

The championship, featuring 29 male and female students from various faculties and academic departments in 16 competitive matches, aims to develop students' strategic and analytical thinking skills, foster a spirit of challenge and fair competition, and promote chess culture as a mental sport that enhances their planning abilities and decision-making under pressure.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Saif Salam Al-Hakimi, emphasized the importance of such tournaments in enhancing intellectual and athletic activities within the university, highlighting chess as a game that nurtures students' analytical and planning skills.

The first day of the championship showcased four intense matches. In the first, Hassan Majed Hassan Al-Sharafi from Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Cybersecurity Department) triumphed over Hemear Abdullah Saleh Omran from Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (General Medicine and Surgery Department).

In the seventh match, Ammar Abdullah Al-Shaikh from Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (General Medicine and Surgery Department) defeated Abdulrahman Sadiq Lutf Allah from Faculty of Business and Finance (English Accounting Department).

Meanwhile, in the eighth match, Mohammed Fahd Al-Mughlis secured victory against Omar Ahmed Al-Askari from Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (General Medicine and Surgery Department).

In the twelfth match, Hamza Salah Al-Alwani from Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Cybersecurity Department) won against Ahmed Amer Al-Areeqi.

The competition will continue in the coming days, with students eagerly anticipating more thrilling matches amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and encouragement, all in pursuit of the championship title and the College Chess League Cup!
