In an effort by the General Administration of Student Activities – Higher Education Sector – at the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research to foster a spirit of competition among universities and community faculties, and to enhance partnership and cooperation between the ministry and universities, the second sports championship for football for students of government and private universities and community faculties for Al-Aqsa Cup was launched today, Sunday, at the recreational club.
The championship, attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al-Duais, and the Director of Activities, Mr. Abdulkarim Al-Dhahak, along with the sports teams that will play after the inauguration, aims to activate sports activities in universities and community faculties to achieve its goals and contribute to supplying sports clubs and national teams with professional players.
The championship, which continues until the second of Sha'ban next, features 32 sports teams from 32 government and private universities, divided into eight groups, with each group consisting of four teams. The first and second teams from each group will qualify for the round of 16, followed by eight teams advancing to the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals, and finally, the two qualifying teams will compete in the championship final, which will be held on the first of February.
The football team of Ar-Rasheed Smart University will compete in Group Seven, which includes 21 September University, Yemeni University, and Jordanian University. Our team will play its first match next Wednesday against Jordanian University.
