On Wednesday, the rector of Ar-Rasheed Smart University, Professor Abdullatif Haider, gave a lecture on "Modern Trends in Academic Accreditation and Ensuring the Quality of Education". The lecture was organized by the Research and Projects Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Asharqia University, through the Microsoft Teams program, as part of the activities and events being carried out by Asharqia University,.
The event, moderated by Dr. Mohammed bin Khalfan Al-Saqri, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of the East, reviewed academic accreditation as an important tool for ensuring the quality of higher education through the evaluation of institutions according to recognized standards, which enhances public confidence, supports global competitiveness, and improves academic and administrative performance.
The rector of Ar-Rasheed Smart University emphasized that the modern trends in accreditation and quality assurance focus on promoting the orientation towards international standards, digitization in evaluation and accreditation processes, with a focus on learning outcomes, and the integration of technology and scientific research in the educational process. International cooperation and mutual recognition agreements, such as the UNESCO Global Convention on Higher Education, contribute to achieving compatibility between different educational systems.
In addition, the emergence of new concepts such as micro-credentials and lifelong learning pathways has led to the modification of accreditation standards to include flexible learning opportunities and non-traditional education providers such as Coursera platforms.
He stressed that these trends highlight the importance of the student as a fundamental focus in the educational process, enhance the integration between traditional and electronic education, and benefit from data analysis and artificial intelligence tools to improve academic and administrative performance, despite the challenges represented by the lack of resources and resistance to change. Quality remains an essential element in achieving competitiveness and sustainability for educational institutions.
