International Business Students at Ar-Rasheed Smart University Discuss the Impact of COVID-19 on Yemeni Companies in a Unique Graduation Research
In a step reflecting Ar-Rasheed Smart University's commitment to fostering scientific research on real-world issues, the International Business (English) Department at faculty of Finance and Business hosted a discussion on Monday, May 19, 2025, featuring distinctive graduation research titled: "Analysis and Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Business Operations in Yemen." The research was presented by a group of students as part of the requirements for obtaining a bachelor's degree for the academic year 1446 (2024–2025).
The discussion session was attended by a distinguished group of university leaders and faculty members, including Professor Dr. Saif Salam Al-Hakimi, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. Jamal Al-Duais, Head of Business Administration Department, along with several academics and students, in an atmosphere characterized by interaction and fruitful discussion.
The students—Ahmed Nabil Al-Madani, Youssef Al-Awami, Amin Al-Salami, Youssef Al-Imad, Mohammed Rawah, Mohannad Al-Dallas, and Imad Al-Rida—delivered a rigorous analytical presentation supported by field data and statistics. Their research highlighted the various impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Yemeni businesses, including operational challenges, market shifts, and institutional adaptation mechanisms, while also proposing practical future recommendations for rebuilding the commercial sector and enhancing its resilience.
The discussion panel consisted of Dr. Hussein Al-Shaari as the internal examiner, Dr. Ziyad Al-Bakheiti as the external examiner, and Dr. Yasser Al-Zamani as the research supervisor.
The panel praised the quality of the academic work presented, expressing admiration for the level of analysis and professionalism in the presentation. They emphasized that the research team demonstrated remarkable intellectual maturity and a strong ability to integrate theoretical frameworks with real-world applications, especially given the complex challenges facing Yemen’s business environment.
At the conclusion of the event, the university expressed pride in this academic achievement, which reflects the excellence of its educational environment.
