In a distinctive scientific milestone where innovation meets humanitarian impact, students at Ar-Rasheed Smart University presented a qualitative graduation project entitled: “FASEEH: An AI-Powered Smart Glove for Translating Arabic Sign Language into Audible Speech,” on Thursday, April 23, 2026, under the gracious sponsorship of the University President, Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Haidar.
The project represents an advanced step in utilizing Artificial Intelligence technologies to serve the community. This innovative technical solution aims to break communication barriers between the deaf and hard-of-hearing community and the rest of society by instantly and accurately converting hand gestures into audible Arabic speech, thereby enhancing social integration and human interaction.
The project is the result of the dedicated efforts of students Aseel Abdulbasit Abdo Al-Hazmi and Yousif Ahmed Al-Yazouri, under the supervision of Dr. Farouq Al-Fahidi and Eng. Mohammed Al-Ramadi. The innovation involves a smart glove equipped with sensors to capture finger movements, which are then analyzed using advanced AI algorithms trained specifically on Arabic Sign Language.
The system relies on the integration of embedded systems, signal processing, machine learning, and text-to-speech technologies to provide a comprehensive model that bridges engineering and artificial intelligence.
The examination committee, consisting of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulmalik Momin, Dr. Adel Rawae, and Eng. Mohammed Al-Madwahi, praised the project, commending its innovative humanitarian concept and high level of technical integration. They also lauded the students' ability to transform academic knowledge into a practical application that serves society and keeps pace with modern advancements in the field of AI.
This project reflects a conscious student vision to harness technology in addressing real-world challenges. It stands as a promising step toward smart solutions with a humanitarian impact that fosters community communication and aligns with future technical developments.
