A Secure System Enhancing Digital Protection in Sensitive Environments: A Unique Graduation Project Showcasing Excellence in Cybersecurity at Ar-Rasheed Smart University
In a scene reflecting significant progress and deep awareness of cybersecurity challenges in the modern digital world, the College of Engineering and Technology at Ar-Rasheed Smart University hosted a distinguished graduation research discussion today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The research was presented by student Hossam Jamil as part of the requirements for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, under the supervision of Dr. Naji Al-Shaibani, titled:
"Dark Knight Phantom: An Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) System."
The project was developed in response to the growing need for lightweight and secure cybersecurity solutions that operate efficiently in offline work environments. The student designed an innovative system capable of real-time monitoring and process analysis using Sigma rules, without relying on cloud services or the internet, making it ideal for resource-limited environments.
The project was implemented using open-source technologies such as Python and Django, following the Agile methodology to ensure flexibility and rapid development. The system features a centralized control interface that is user-friendly and highly efficient, catering to the technical requirements of educational institutions and small enterprises.
During the presentation, University President Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Haidar expressed his pride in the high-quality graduation projects emerging from the university, stating:
"This project clearly embodies Ar-Rasheed Smart University's mission of linking academic excellence with applied innovation. We take pride in our students' ability to develop practical solutions that enhance digital security locally and regionally."
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Anwar Al-Dhari, Head of the Cybersecurity Department, praised the achievement, saying: "We commend the high level our students have reached, and Hossam’s project is a testament to their ability to deliver pioneering technological solutions that contribute to building a secure and independent digital environment."
The discussion panel, consisting of Professor Dr. Naji Al-Shaibani and Dr. Anwar Al-Shamiri, praised the scientific and practical quality of the project, considering it a valuable addition to cybersecurity graduation research and a strong candidate for real-world implementation in technology institutions.
At the conclusion of this achievement, such high-caliber projects remain a living testament to the idea that when ambition is paired with knowledge and creativity, it has the power to transform reality and shape a safer digital future.
