Ar-Rasheed Smart University Discusses "Smart Irrigation System" Project Using AI and IoT by Mechatronics Engineering Students
university newsIn a step reflecting Ar-Rasheed Smart University’s commitment to supporting qualitative projects that link engineering knowledge with sustainable development needs, Faculty of Engineering and Technology witnessed the discussion of a distinguished graduation project today, Monday, April 20, 2026. The project, titled "Smart Irrigation System Using Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT)," was presented by the first batch of Mechatronics Engineering students under the gracious sponsorship of the rector, Prof. Abdullatif Haidar, and in the presence of the Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center, Prof. Abdulhamid Ashuja'a. The project aims to develop an intelligent system capable of managing irrigation processes automatically by integrating AI and IoT technologies. It relies on collecting and analyzing multiple data points, including soil moisture, temperature, atmospheric humidity, and water levels, in addition to historical weather data. This enables the system to make precise decisions regarding irrigation timing and quantities, achieving a balance between crop requirements and the rationalization of water and energy consumption
